Bazer enables Entrepreneurship. An Indian Story

Mahipal Singh and his four brothers own 20 acres of land in village Kheri Battar, just a few kilometers from Charkhi Dadri in Haryana. Surrounded by stone quarries and the ever increasing pollution, Mahipal Singh a veterinary doctor by profession, was very concerned about his farm and its productivity.

He met the local Bank Manager of Punjab National Bank and posed the problem to him. The Bank Manager suggested that Mahipal should also consider putting up a crushing and screening plant on a part of his land. The funds would be loaned by the bank.

Mahipal Singh started visting the nearby plants to help decide on which plant he would like to buy. There are two plants by Metso and one plant by Sandvik in the vicinity. He could not, however, make up his mind and was very confused.

A few days later, on one of his visits to Charkhi Dadri, he met a young security guard, Vijender Singh, who had come to visit some of his relatives in the town. Talking to the guard Mahipal mentioned his dilemma regarding the choice of the plant. The guard told him that he worked for BHP Infrastructure, a company based in Faridabad. BHP manufactures world class crushing and screening plants. Maybe Mahipal could come and visit the factory and decide what he wants?

Mahipal visited the BHP factory in Faridabad and realized that the Bazer range of crushing and screening equipment and plants were of outstanding design and quality and were comparable to the best in the world. He also found BHP cone and jaw crushers to be bigger then the ones offered by competition. After consultations with the marketing and design team at BHP, he decided to buy a 200 tph 2 stage crushing and screening plant producing five different sizes of aggregate to suit his requirements.

Now he needed a partner to participate in the venture. He found the perfect partner in Mr. Suresh Dhanda from Hissar, who was a railway contractor and supplied railway ballast. Of the 20 acres land that Mahipal and his 3 brothers owned, 5 acres was set aside for setting up the new plant.

While the principal partners are Mahipal Singh and Suresh Dhanda, their brothers are also partners in the new venture.

The plant was delivered to Mahipal Singh in December 2008. It has been handed over to Mahipal Singh and Suresh Dhanda and has started start full scale production.

Mahipal Singh is very happy that he decided to go with BHP Infrastructure because as he says,” BHP takes a lot of care and has been with me all the way. Not withstanding a few delays, the service has been very good. The plant is of very high quality and I am very happy with the product. The product is square shaped and as a result I am now getting a premium price for it in the market “

Once again BHP has lived up to its promise – Profit through Reliability.
